My mystery shawl came off the needles last night and spent the night on the blocking mats. I pulled it off, all crisp and nice this morning and wore it to work. I’m always amazed at what a good blocking does to lace – just totally transforms it. I should have taken a before and after photo.
I haven’t measured the final dimensions, but it’s a great size – I was worried it was going to be a little small. I got a little behind on this shawl because I SAT on my only pair of US 4 needles and they broke (diet time?) so I had to get some more. Instead of just buying another pair of needles, I decided to splurge and get a set of KnitPicks interchangeable needles. I don’t regret it a single bit. They are amazing. And now I won’t continue to just buy crappy needles that I will eventually sit on and break (who does that?).
These photos aren’t the greatest – I took them on my iPhone while I was at my parents house this afternoon. But you can get the general idea. The shawl is bright – perfect for summer (and my usual drab wardrobe).
Overall, the pattern was great. Jen did a great job – well written and easy to understand, and really fun! I enjoyed the mystery of it all and would definitely do another mystery KAL in the future.
